Justine Johansson - Marriage Celebrant
Justine approached me with a vision: to bring her marriage celebrant brand to life with elegance and impact.
Together, we explored curated moodboards to uncover a colour palette, typography, and aesthetic direction that truly reflected her personality and values. From there, I crafted a cohesive visual identity; designing her logo, business cards, A3 posters, pull-up banner, and a website.
Her brand, inspired by the timeless beauty of Art Deco, captures a clean, sophisticated look that stands out in the modern wedding space. You can see her full brand experience on display at the Christchurch Wedding Expo.
The story behind the logo
Justine’s passion as a marriage celebrant lies in uniting people through love and guiding them through the meaningful commitment of marriage. She envisioned a logo that not only reflected this purpose but also incorporated a personal touch with her name.
The final design beautifully symbolises unity and the formal signing of the marriage registry. Inspired by the elegance of an Art Deco envelope seal, the logo features two interwoven J’s—representing two individuals coming together. The sweeping tail of the larger J evokes the motion of a calligraphy pen, nodding to the significance of handwritten vows and the legal, lasting nature of the marriage bond.
The selected moodboard
As part of my design process, I create multiple moodboards to help define a brand’s direction. Once a client selects one, I move forward to conceptualise the logo, typography, colour palette, and overall visual identity.
What is a moodboard and why I use them?
A moodboard is a visual tool used to define the look, feel and overall direction of a brand before any design work begins. It brings together colours, imagery, textures, typography references and visual inspiration to capture the essence of a brand in one cohesive view.
I use moodboards at the start of every project to ensure clarity and alignment. They help translate abstract ideas and emotions into a clear visual language, allowing us to confirm the direction early on and avoid guesswork later in the process.
Moodboards also create a shared understanding between designer and client. They ensure the brand aesthetic feels intentional, cohesive and aligned with your values before moving into logo design, website design or any supporting materials. This results in a more thoughtful, refined outcome and a smoother design process overall.
Client Review
“Working with Brit from Storm Studio was an absolute pleasure. She designed my wedding celebrant logo, website, business cards, promotional banners and posters, the entire experience exceeded my expectations.
Brit took the time to truly understand me and my values, and the feeling I wanted my business to convey. The result is a cohesive, elegant, and professional brand identity that feels authentic and aligned with me and my work. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the overall visual direction down to the smallest design elements.
Her communication was clear and professional throughout the process, she was incredibly responsive to feedback, and she offered creative insights that elevated the final outcome far beyond what I had initially imagined.
I’ve received so many compliments on my branding, and I feel confident and proud sharing my business because of Brits work. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Brit to anyone looking for a talented, intuitive designer who genuinely cares about creating meaningful, high-quality branding.”
